Another High Note

I Wonder how many people picked one familiar riff in the charts at the moment. The Fun Loving Criminals have incorporated elements from Little River Bands' "Happy Anniversary" into their new hit. A great feel is recreated and why not. This year is Little River Band's 26th Anniversary and yes it's time to share this one with the new generation.

When the Bush campaign chose

"Help Is On Its Way"

we didn't think we'd be hanging on so long for a result. Like him or lump him, you've got to admire his taste in music.

Little River Band are preparing for this years tour of America. At this stage the tour commences on Thursday 05/31/01 Anaheim CA at the Sun Theater. Further tour dates will be added soon and the tour may begin even sooner.

Australian dance music duo Mdison Avenue have another chart topper on their hands. This time in the form of a well know early hit for Little River Band. "Reminiscing" gets another spin. When the younger guys and girls dance to this one, will they remember the original?

Wayne finished the year on a high note. Wayne Nelson and companion Rhonda Bass were married on October 1. The celebration took place in Nashville, TN in front of family and close friends. Greg Hind sang during the ceremony. Wayne sang a song too, but it is fair to say that his attention was completely engaged by his new bride.

When Stephen Housden is not on tour his Friday evenings are spent performing with Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience, Bass/Vocals) and friends. De Barras folk club is the venue, in the heart of Ireland's famous music town Clonakilty. Many have jumped at the opportunity. During his recent visit to Ireland, Pat Ryan also took to the stage Joining Noel Redding & Friends.

April / May 2001

Wayne will be back in San Diego for 5 days to cut tracks with an artist there named Dani Carroll. Her newest CD will be produced by a San Diego percussionist and songwriter named Jeff Berkley. Wayne played on a CD for him and his partner last summer...the name of their band is Berkley/Hart, and the CD was voted best of the year in San Diego. You can find info on them at www.berkleyhart.com. Dani sang on their CD too. It's excellent music...folk with an attitude. Good vocals and lots of good songs...just like Little River Band.

Wayne Nelson teamed with talented West Coast songwriter Fred Schmitz on a studio album project entitled "Round And Round" and they named their imaginary band "Out Of Time." Combining elements of pop and country, Wayne brought the songs to life with his trademark vocals, and we do mean "vocals." Wayne performed all lead and background vocals, so there is definitely a Little River Band flavor to the project.

You can check out samples of the tunes and order the CD at www.outoftimeband.com. You can also check out some of the songs in their entirety at www.mp3.com and then link back to the Out Of Time web site.

It's ironic that Wayne did a project like this and then moved to

Nashville. What does it mean? We don't know, except it's good music and hopefully we'll hear more from Out Of Time in the future. Check it out and let Wayne know what you think.

As a side note...just before starting the 2001 tour with the band, Wayne will spend a week in San Diego finishing the mix of a CD that he produced with his San Diego band...Wooden Angel. Wayne is doing his best to have this completed before he sets off on the Little River Band tour 2001. If all goes to plan Wayne will have the CD for those who would like to purchase it during the tour. If you don't see it, please ask..

Along with creating new music for Little River Band, Glenn Reither (Keyboard/Vocals/Sax) spends a significant part of his time producing music for other musicians.

That would keep most performing writers busy and happy.

This Month Glenn Reither is finalising the setup of a computer based mobile recording studio. Although Little River Band may use this system to capture some live performance, it will be used frequently, before and after the shows. With these 5 musicians and a 5 month tour of USA and Canada ahead, there will be an abundance of creative moments to capture for your future enjoyment.

As the current CD "Where We Started From" takes its place alongside Little River Band's previous albums, a new CD is not yet due. It takes a lot of work and time bringing the initial music ideas through pre-production and on through the recording process, so it is time to focus on the early stages of a CD for future release.

With Glenn Reither's portable recording studio, there no risk of loosing ideas while waiting for a break in the tour schedule.

Madison Avenue

The 1978 Little River Band classic Reminiscing was recently covered by Australian band Madison Avenue. It's in the Top Ten and tipped to reach the No1 spot. Good luck.

Greg Hind

Greg Hind has been busy writing and recording demo tracks of his new songs. He's been out and about enjoying the response to lots of his new material.

He's also been busy writing recording and co-producing songs with two up and coming female artists on the Aussie music scene.

On another project Greg has been working with Geoff Wells, key member of great Austrlian band the Truth. You'll be hearing a lot more of these people in the near future. There a possibilty that Greg will be writing with his old friend Jamie Oneal, currently enjoying huge success with the song "There is no Arizona".

On a more personal note, unfortunately Greg's brother was struck down with a serious illness recently. Greg headed to his brother in Vienna to offer all of his support. Fortunately recovery is on the way but it will take quite some time.

Greg is now heading back to America to prepare for the forthcoming tour. You'll probably hear some of Greg new work during the world tour 2001

Little River Band Touring America

Little River Band are back in America, where they will tour until late September 2001. There's always the possibility of new shows being added, so they may stay even longer.

Right from the start, the band is privileged to be in front of such loyal and dedicated fans. It makes it that little bit easier to be away from friends and family for so long.

Thank you

August / December 2001

US Tour 2001 reaches the halfway point.
National Release of the new CD "Where We Started From" this month.

Glenn's Aussie-Style Jam

Whenever possible, Stephen and I will go looking for local bands to jam with. More often than not we have to travel overnight to the next show, or we aren't near any live venues, so we don't get a lot of opportunities but it is great to blow the cobwebs away with a local blues, jazz or cover band. This year, as in years past, we have had some great times jamming with St Louis blues legend Jimmy Lee. He has an incredible voice, his guitar playing is inspiring and the band cooks! The last time we got together was especially memorable because Ingrid Berry (Chuck's daughter) sang with us. A voice as beautiful as the woman herself. We had so much fun we headed downtown to play with another blues band.

If you are ever in St Louis on a Monday night get down to the 1860's Bar in the Soulard district and catch Jimmy Lee in action. We also had a great night out in St Paul, MN playing with a blues band at a little bar out in the sticks and then a rockin' Hammond trio at The Artists Quarter downtown. On July 4th after our big outdoor concert at the Casino Queen in East St Louis we had a hoot jamming with Ralph Butler and an excellent band in the club. A big thanks to all the bands and venues that have made us feel welcome. Jamming helps keep us fresh so we can play the hundredth show of the tour with the same edge and excitement as the first, plus it's a proven method for getting free drinks. See you out there somewhere. Glenn Reither
